That is the textbook definition. Very important words.
I have my own definition. Maybe I have it because of the words of the ones I know, because of what I see on tv, in the books I read, in the history they teach. Maybe it's not correct. But here it is.

Racism

Rac·ism

/ˈrāˌsizəm/

A word that became known because of slavery, the jim crow laws and civil rights fights. A word that when you use it as a weapon you say ‘Racist’. A word that offends many, and that many more don't want to talk about. A word that our culture, our world is surrounded in. A word that applies to so many, but still doesn’t say enough.

As a verb it is when you treat someone with disrespect because of things they can not change, and should not have to change. It is black boys getting shot because they have their hoods on. It is white woman's word means more than a black mans. When a cry of wolf gets someone killed or jailed. There are so many things I could say, that we all, could say. But instead of making this a heartfelt letter let's talk facts.
Racism costs.

Ther was an article by NPR saying that the United States has lost sixtenn trillion dollars because of racism. -->
